Where caterpillars find their wings

Issue 1 - November 23, 2003

===============================================

This is a very special time for me, a time when I hover on the threshold of a new transformation, a reaching out beyond the little world of this present chrysalis to stretch my new found wings and fly.

I have enjoyed my time as a fat little caterpillar feasting quietly on life in the privacy of my cabbage patch but there comes a time when the whisper for change becomes ever louder until its shrillness demands attention. The transformation of the chrysalis only comes when we are no longer comfortable in our own skins, when we writhe and twist in our awareness that change has become a command and no longer a choice.

Hunger grows within.
Silence growling to be heard,
Hibernation ends

This week my silence started growling so ferociously that I felt as though an invisible force was ejecting me from my comfortable cocoon. Our gifts are meant to be shared for in silence they wither and die. Our gifts cannot grow hidden away in the darkness; they can only grow when we venture out into the light and commit them to the challenge of experience. So here I am today coming out into the light and asking that you share the journey with me.

What gifts are you hiding away in the darkness? What will you do today to fulfill those gifts? What light will you shine out into the world? Do you feel that whisper for change or has it become a maddening roar blocking out all else but the voice that tells you it is time?

Time to transform,
time to be what you may be,
time to enter the chrysalis
or time to emerge.

For just one moment today, sit quietly and listen to the voice within, whether the whisper or the roar. Feel your wings stretching wide, feel the newness of your being, the wonderful self you are becoming and fly.

Caterpillar writhes,
In chrysalis transforming.
Butterfly set free
